Cool Car tech – check out the Tesla!

Today is Thursday, henceforth known as wildcard day here on this blog.  As such, rather than review a video in one of the four vertical industries (Healthcare, Manufacturing, Retail and Education) we post some random technology video demo that caught our eye.  And today we look in the garage.  I wish it was my garage, but its in somebody’s garage.  The Tesla Roadster, the sports car of electric cars.  Its green…  and its environmentally friendly.

From the Tesla site “The AC induction motor and single speed gear box create instant torque from 0 rpm. Up to 295 lbs-ft of torque and 288 horsepower are produced as the car smoothly accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.”  Even if you are not a car fanatic, these are impressive numbers.  The size of the car is quite small, a two seater weighing in at just over 2700 lbs., with 288 horses. This is one fast electric car.

The brand, paying homage to Nikola Tesla through its name, is an California car manufacturer driven to create fun electric cars.  With this roadster, it sure looks like they have succeeded!  Lets see, cool look, fast, instant acceleration, this is a must have with the exception of its $101,500 base price.  So, until you all make me rich and famous, driving this one will only be a virtual experience.

The video is a little long, but skip around and you will find that all of the features are reviewed and you really get a good driving experience.  The best is the subtle quiet acceleration noise of the car.  This really is a big boy’s toy!
